Interconnect - Study visit to Karlskrona

The Study visit to Karlskrona was the second study visit after the first one to the Hanseatic City of Rostock, Germany. It will be followed by a visit to Gdynia, Poland, Helskinki/Tallin, Finland/Estonia area and Klaipeda, Lithuania.

Study visits to the partner areas are an important element of the Interconnect project. By attending them, public transport system stakeholders can mutually learn about public transport in the visited area. This should also help them to develop and improve their own services and products for regional and cross-border no-car travels.

In Karlskrona, participants have started in the early morning with a briefing at StenaLine port about StenaLine operations and ferry lines. Then, participants had an opportunity to experience the public transport in Karlskrona - travelling around by various bus lines, accompanied by representatives of Blekingetrafiken who gave them insights into the organization and highlights of the public transport in the area. The study visit continued with and concluded by a set of briefings at the Blekingetrafiken headquarters, focused on ticketing systems, public transport solutions in Blekinge region and other.

Interconnect, the project for “Better public transport services for regional and cross-border travels in the South Baltic area” is an EU Interreg South Baltic Programme flagship project and addresses the challenge of curbing the car-reliant mobility trend in the area.
